India here we come!

Hi everyone,

This is Chirantan, a 4th year medical student at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health.

Along with my classmates Chris Seebruck, Nick Frame, and Melanie Schmitt, I will be going to India this April to help, as the title says, combat blindness.

We'll be at the Shroff Charity Eye Hospital in New Delhi, India. There we'll help with surgeries, observe the clinics, and even practice our own surgical skills in the wetlab.

We'll be taking lots of photos and video to document our experiences. Hopefully this will give everyone, including interested medical students, the chance to see what our trip is like and what people can do to help the cause.

Personally, I'm most excited about a special project I'll be undertaking for CBF. I'm bringing along a sweet HD camcorder, an interview mic, and plenty of tapes and I'm going to be shooting a documentary about the experiences of an Indian eye patient. I'm thrilled about this opportunity and hope to make a great film.

Check back to this blog for updates on our travels. We'll try and post as often as we can so you can see what we do day-to-day.

Enjoy!
